Dawnavan Davis, Ph.D.
Dawnavan Davis, Ph.D. is the Director of Health Promotions at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas City, where she is charged with developing and implementing evidence-based health promotion programs in the areas of childhood obesity prevention and treatment. Prior to joining Blue KC, Dr. Davis was a Research Assistant Professor of Medicine and the Director of the Community-Based Research Program at the University of Chicago-Department of Medicine. Dr. Davis received her doctoral degree in Medical Psychology, and has more than 15 years of experience in community health education, research, and community-based obesity program development and execution, receiving numerous academic and service awards in these areas.
Erika Kelly, M.S.
Health Promotions Research Analyst
Erika Kelly, M.S. is the Health Promotions Analyst at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas City, where she is responsible for analyzing and reporting on the progress of health promotions initiatives. Before joining Blue KC, Ms. Kelly was a statistical programmer at a Kansas City-based research institute where she developed interactive reporting portals. Ms. Kelly completed her graduate work at the University of Oklahoma where she specialized in research and statistical methods for the social sciences with an additional focus on Internet-based research methods.
Anita Powell, R.N., B.S.N., BC
Health Promotions Clinical Manager
Anita Powell, R.N., BSN, BC, is the Manager of Clinical Operations for Health Promotions at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City (Blue KC) and is responsible for clinical program initiatives development and implementation. Prior to joining the Health Promotions department, she worked in the Integrated Health Services division of Blue KC. Ms. Powell earned her Bachelor of Science in nursing at the University of Kansas and is board certified in case management with experience in mentoring and leadership, pediatric mental health and in assisting clients and families with health and wellness education.
Nicole Williams McElveen, MPH
Health Promotions Program Specialist
Nicole Williams McElveen is the Health Promotions Program Specialist at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas City (Blue KC), where she is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of a diverse array of health promotion initiatives focused on childhood obesity. Prior to joining Blue KC, Ms. McElveen was a Senior Project Manager in the Performance Measures Department for theNational Quality Forum(NQF), where she was responsible for the direction, execution and oversight for consensus development projects related to Healthcare Disparities, Cultural Competency and Population Health. Ms. McElveen received her Master’s in Public Health from SUNY Downstate Medical Center, where she specialized in Urban/Immigrant Health.
